Cookie Monsters

Sam (i.e. our smart phone) got a cookie monster this morning from BestBuy.Com.  We put IT through the security system that filters information on Sam's computer desktop and discovered a scam.  We were then able to "unsubscribe" (i.e. disconnect) Best Buy from sending Sam any more text messages.  We don't have enough money to waste on unsolicited text messages!

Mom knew the message was a computer cookie monster, and she has been on good standing with cookie monsters since the day she received an invitation to join the Children's Television Workshop.  That was decades ago, shortly after she had joined the staff of Colorado Boys Ranch in 1986.  Mom understands that there are many kinds of Cookie Monsters, and she understands the value of declining an invitation.

Most people learn how to say "NO" by the age of two.  Many of us learn to be afraid of using the word after we start public school.  Mom also understands that learning when and how to say a firm, yet polite, "NO" is the beginning of real personal power.  IT (i.e. information transfer, or teaching) is also the beginning of good physical as well as mental health.

I've been following this blog for some time working with Covenant Programs, Incorporated, and Facebook. I also follow the Colorado Collaborative weather service blog. Most of the entries are too complicated and confusing for children, but this entry can be very educational for parents of young children who are growing up in an IT world.
