The Party

At exactly 4:44 PM on 4 January, Grandad decided to postpone the party.  We called our friends and began to eat.  This is the second time that he has made his special "Doctored Scalloped Potatoes," a variation of a Thanksgiving recipe that he had cut from a paper.

He had been out and had taken a note for CoCoRaHS.  The cold and snow predicted by The Weather Channel had arrived.  The roads were dangerously slick.  After supper, while I worked on his computer, Grandad turned his television on to TCM.  He watched the end of an old, 1951, movie IN BLACK AND WHITE that had served as a metaphor for taking advantage of Americans' fear of communism.

Overnight, I found myself puzzling about that fear, about integrity, and about keeping a balance between individualism and commitment in the Democratic Party THROUGH EDUCATION with CYFFR PETS.  I have been thinking this way since my days as a student with Frieda McCullom and reading this book near San Diego.

Influential professors

I don't expect many people to get the connection between Ivan McCullom and Dexter Hess.  Mac is long dead, and the two men never met.  Both of their wives are also dead.  Dexter, however, does understand.  He also understands the importance of using computers, archives, Facebook, and metaphors to "make a living" in the year 2014.
