Mom is off work for the rest of today, free to visit with her own family. She has used Facebook and the telephone to record her current status in various relationships. She continues to follow Book TV and PBS. At noon she tuned in to see Bill Moyers discussing the rebirth of FDR. During the discussion, Mom heard the proposition made that FDR's empathy for the poor manifested itself in his heart only after he fell victim to polio.
Such crises, Mom believes are necessary precursors to spiritual rebirth -- in this case, the spiritual rebirth of our nation in the Twentieth Century.
