Ides of July

Yesterday was the ides of the month.  After several days of listening to his children telling him what to do and giving him a time frame in which to evict his friend, Ruth, Grandad found himself exhausted.  He asked Carolyn to take over his Google and Facebook correspondence.

Dear Children,
     Tending the house just now, I found a most beautiful birthday card.  It is from two of you.  It has inspired me to write a letter to Grandad's step-son who should receive it via email by end of this week.
     I have spent four years now working in Grandad's house and learning how to do everything exactly the way Grandad likes things done -- without too much argument.  This past year, at Christmas time, I helped provide the hospitality that two of you enjoyed after moving into Casa Del Sol.
     During the past couple of months, I have watched your dad killing himself -- TRYING TO PLEASE ALL OF YOU.  Finally, this morning, I realized that I am not the only person in this community trying to save your dad from his suffering.
     Your dad has asked me to stay, so I shall.  I thank our Lord for watching over both of us -- for sending so many friends to surround us in this neighborhood.
