Mr. Lincoln

GranCCY, Mom, and Grandad too, have been getting "excitey" as Mr. Archuleta used to say, because Thanksgiving is on the wayAnnette tells her children, "Grandad is rich."  Mom tells them, "No, he isn't."  Rich is a matter of perception.  Mom's younger daughters wanted to be adopted when Mom was practicing, living in her own big house, and everyone respected her work.  The children thought drCCYmom was rich until they discovered how determined she was to live among "the poor."

Mom and Blaze (the cat) visited Mr. Lincoln (the rose) -- watering Grandad's garden and pulling weeds along the way on the Monday before 9/11/2014.  The following Friday, Grandad picked up Ruth from Mom's apartment, took her to lunch at Mission Deli in Rocky Ford and brought her home for the weekend to help Mom prepare for her annual meeting of CovePros while he enjoys his children and the "Old Settlers Day Parade."

Some time ago, when Grandad and Ruth were traveling companions, they visited a good friend in the mountains above Denver.  The house is huge and beautifully furnished.  On the front porch was a sculpture of President Lincoln sitting on a bench.  Grandad and Ruth have a picture of themselves sitting next to Mr. Lincoln.  To Grandad's family, the owners of that house appear rich.  Today we know that their struggles are not much different from ours.
