Labor pains were reviewed in the media this past week, and Nelson Mandela's life was being celebrated throughout the world while I was preoccupied sending cards and a Christmas letter to a few of our family and friends. Ruth has asked me to comment in the context of a meeting, last night.
A gentleman gave a presentation at Monday Evening Club (MEC) about his dislike of cats. It would have been very humorous if you shared his dislike of cats. I found it mildly humorous. Actually, I don't dislike cats. Pets can be nice. His dislike of cats was based on his life long allergies.
As to where I was when this story of the Rainbow Nation began, I was attending The University of Colorado in Boulder. Ruth was finishing high school in Lemont, Illinois, where her class was preparing to welcome a visiting student from South Africa. I invite Ruth (CYFFR) to pick up this story from there.
