a New Year and a New Beginning

Grace greeted Grandad and me at the door.  Casa Del Sol was decorated and a table was set for a private, New Years Eve party yesterday evening.  Glasses were filled with sparkling pink wine and lifted in touching prayer.  Names were used -- and Skype.  Grandad celebrated the family and traditions of Violet Fern and announced the taking down of the living room tree on New Years Day.  I had interwoven my own family traditions by teaching Grandad to play a favorite table game, Parcheesi.

Back home, we exchanged Birthday Greetings with a neighbor.  Grandad returned Sally's phone call and made his first appointment for a consult 10 AM -- New Years Day!  Long before midnight we were both sound asleep, but I was awake again in time to watch Charlie Rose and Tavis Smiley.  By 7 AM, weather reporting time, Grandad had seen a trace of rain and a rainbow in the west.  By 9 he had had second thoughts and called Sally back.  He rescheduled the consult, and we went to breakfast.

By noon the tree was down and put away.  By one o'clock PM he was napping, back on schedule!
