I BELIEVE that institutions have evolved from communities, and that communities have evolved from families for the purpose of raising, and educating, future generations out of poverty. This morning I watched the television, PBS. I showered and checked in with my friends using a "smart" mobile telephone programmed with AT&T software before opening my Gateway computer.
Grandad and I have been doing a lot of reading that shapes our dialogue day to day, so I took note of a book he had been reading the night before. I shared this information with our Ruby Friends using his Facebook Timeline. The most fascinating book that I have ever read is Longitude by Dava Sobel. I take it every where I go and never tire of re-reading the story that has inspired my work these past few years. Again this Sunday, I have taken it with me as I travel.
Back to work Monday, we have joined the followers at http://lookeastlookwest.blogspot.com/
and have begun a two day meeting with citizens of the State of New Mexico. Throughout the day, Tuesday, several conversations ensued as we drafted Articles of Incorporation. The business story culminated in a discussion between men about hard and soft science. With the precision of a naval submarine officer and an engineer with a slide rule, John described the events of a drive, years ago, from San Diego to Washington state to meet his then bride to be.
The men had been talking religion, politics, philosophy and Genesis. I listened to John's words and watched the light in his wife's eyes with my mind muddled with desire for sleep. I also observed, and compared the movements of John's fingers as he used a mouse at the computer with those of a thirteen year old boy operating the same computer weeks before using the keypad.
Wednesday, a doctor's day to break for getting correspondence and paperwork DONE! BY 4 PM I'm ready to go home, relax and celebrate with family.
