Lessons II

Mom's computer will be down in the shop for a while, so we're taking some time to transmit some of her notes.  We found them in a drawer next to the bed in Grandad's guest room.

5 March 2014, 10 AM left for Pueblo for Dex's 2 PM dental appt./ 6 March, worked house cleaning + teaching Kaleb. / 7 March, RSVP'd Pat's comment on "Belonging."  @ 3 PM took Dex's Rx for pain in ear.
... the tedious notes of a scientist ... BORING!

Learning to hold our tongues as Grandad has advised.  Mom went back to work AS SOON AS THE SUN HAD SET.

@ 8 AM (MDT) 10 MARCH she had written and sent:
Cheryl and Donald dropped in yesterday to see for themselves how we are doing.  We both enjoyed their visit, and it gave Dex an opportunity to "show & tell" what he's been doing. He's so enthusiastic again about his autobiography! They mentioned that they continue not to open any correspondence from us unless Dex tells them that he remembers sending it.  Of course, we do far more correspondence these days, with more people, than he could remember even in his younger years!
Donald was so funny.  I had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing out loud.  He kept trying to bait me like Roger used to do about my "liberal" political views.  Silently, I prayed, "Thanks, Lord, for sending Roger to excise that temptation, teaching me to hold my tongue."  Dex, as always, played it cool.  He said nothing about the fact that he has been learning to use his own Gmail and Facebook accounts or that he makes mistakes that he may not remember and asks me to "edit and send" his work.
I went to sleep disappointed and awoke this morning determined not to stay in the room when his family visits on weekends.  My plan is to politely excuse myself and disappear so that Fern's family can have him all to themselves.  I know that is what they really want, and truth is that I would rather spend time in correspondence with my own network of family and friends.
