End of July

We are looking forward to Lexi's birthday followed by Grandad's!  We plan to spend both days in New Mexico again.

8:30 am Tuesday 1 July 2014:  Grandad has accepted Mom's separation.  He just called and asked her to lunch with him at his house so that they might discuss THEIR THOUGHTS about the future.  GranCCY continued to use Facebook to answer questions, and Ruth is telling her friends, privately, that she will not make any more plans with Grandad until after they are in New Mexico again on his birthday.

1:00 am 3 July 2014: Just in time to celebrate INDEPENDENCE, Mom has learned to set aside her fear of the moral judgments that Grandad's children continue to make against her.

8:00 pm 6 July 2014: Hopefully, we've learned a lesson.

8:00 pm 7 July 2014:  After a stressful day for Grandad, the details of his deceased wife's family reunion are falling into place so that Mom can prepare to receive their house guests in comfort..

By the ides of the month, Grandad had learned the full extent of his children's nightmare.

5:30 am 17 July 2014:  I hear Grandad.  He is up and headed for work at Scaff.

6:20 pm 19 July 2014:  Mom and Grandad have enjoyed the security of their home and a day of rest.

1:12 pm 23 July 2014:  Mom has not been sitting still.  She is waiting, however, to see:
  1. Will Grandad keep his promise to spend his birthday with GranCCY?
  2. Will he give her an eviction notice?
In any case, she and GranCCY are prepared.  Mom has rented new space for her office in Pueblo, and is working on her move!

10 pm 24 July 2014:  Yes!  It is clear now that Grandad intends to keep his promise.  He and Mom have agreed that GranCCY must be evicted while she is still strong enough to take the shock. Mom is helping her choose the furniture to take, and their friend Ruth will move with her.  A host of friends and neighbors have been giving timely advice ONLY WHEN ASKED.     This is what old folks appreciate most.  Understanding this is how Grandad and GranCCY became pals and housemates in the first place.

11:33 pm 25 July 2014:   Feeling rested after a hard day's work, I'm watching Charlie Rose interview an artist.  I read again last night's entry and appreciate that Mom too is an artist.  She has written and blogged many ideas successfully from many points of view.

NOON 27 July 2014:  Mom and Grandad are celebrating.

9:30 am 29 July 2014:  GranCCY just heard the train leaving for Albuquerque.  Grandad is enjoying coffee with friends at Casa Del Sol and planning to spend his birthday with friends in Rocky Ford while Mom works with her neighbors to move into her new apartment.

4:40 pm 31 July 2014:  Mom began imagining a tug o' war might be about to begin.

9 pm 31 July 2014:  Grandad and GranCCY watched the sun set and talked about his birthday cards, about their love for classical music, and about their differences.  She had just had supper alone for the first time in the new apartment.
